COROWA JUNIOR BASKETBALL

Under 16s

After a great win last week, the Corowa boys were facing the third-placed Hawks in a battle for a finals spot.

Corowa started well posting a few early baskets however the Hawks fought back with some drives down the key which were promptly stopped by changing the defensive structure.

Corowa was battling hard for the ball, getting into good positions on offense and making it really difficult for the Hawks to find their momentum.

Every time they lost an offensive rebound, it seemed we were on a fast break with either Lachie or Franklin typically doing the damage.

Jordie copped an errant elbow in the mouth and didn’t let it get to him as he continued his rebounding purple patch along with Snow and Franklin to minimise their second-point chances.

The Hawks were on the attack quickly from when Corowa scored or turned the ball. They scored a few points this way, but the guys tightened up their defence and got back on defence quicker to stop the Hawks play.

Everyone played their role well with good physicality at the ball, some nice shots put up by Dyl and Harry and some good harassing work by Rippa.

Franklin was fouled out with about 4 minutes to go however the other guys weren’t going to let that get in their way and finished out the game strongly.

It was a tight contest all game however Corowa managed to maintain their lead on the scoreboard taking home a 13-point win.

One more game to go for the regular season and the equation remains the same ..... win equals finals. Lose and they have to rely on other results. There are 4 teams fighting for 2 spots so it’s going to be a great last week of the regular season.
